Joel Goodson

respect my decision™
Griffin was extremely poor on defense. He shot well and rebounded ok, but both at Illinois and Syracuse he was criticized severely for his lack of effort on defense. Not sorry to see him go, and you know how it is with our coach. If you don't play D you don't play. That was mentioned earlier as to why Melendez wasn't playing more as well. Could have been Podz' problem as well.
Not sure about extremely poor, but absolutely agree that his D was poor.

As fans we are going to have to get used to this combination of a new era of transfers + being a competitive team on a national level again that has top tier talent on the roster and top tier talent coming in on a yearly basis. It’s going to force some transfers that we don’t like.

Top 100 recruits transferring after their freshman year isn’t as damming as it used to be (for us) ….we have a top 10 recruiting class coming in full of talent for positions 1-4.

Trent seemed a little uncharacteristic towards the latter part of the season.

I don't think anyone really knew how banged up Trent was this entire year, and it may never get out publicly. He just kept his head down and worked.

The kid is an absolute warrior. The epitome of an everyday guy. And a guy who in my opinion still doesn't get enough credit for his career here. I will ride or die with Trent Frazier on my team, and I know Brad would say the same.

Rafters. That's all I've got to say about that.

Only issue I had was when we went up to WI and Podz couldn't get a minute of gametime in with his family in attendance. I know its sentimental and coach should play who he thinks is best to win the game, but I felt for him there.

Who will fill the void at SG? Personally I believe you can mix in Goode at the 2/3 with Rodger, Harris and Epps. All interchangeable. Why do we need to add experience? We see where that got us last year.
No sane coach is going to going into a season with just three guards on the roster, all of them Freshmen. We will add at least one more guard, most likely two. I would prefer them with experience, but that's really a secondary concern. Primary concern is adding more guards.

Oh, and the coaching staff's decisions this past year won us the conference. Bad luck that Trent got an eye infection and Jake hurt his shoulder right before the tournament, but overall it was a good season and the coaches did a good job.

I think you must be talking about Marquette? I think that was the first HM game of the year ? Game 3 or 4 total maybe ? I know we lost the game ...

No offense to Podz but BU had absolutely zero reason to play him, and if he did I would have really questioned BU as would have everyone else ... I remember BU got some heat for only playing Plummer like 10 minutes and letting Belo take like 20 shots ... But Podz was not the answer in that game.

Larry, Paul, and Bo certainly didn't help either. Marquette shot like 20 more FTs than us and BU made sure they knew that ...

I loved Podz's potential spurtability (I think that's what DV would call it) as a role player off the bench and hate to see him go, but I also understand 18-22 year olds don't necessarily aspire to be role players off the bench with spurtability who are adored by illinoisloyalty posters.

Go make the most of your limited opportunity to be a college athlete...at somewhere that never plays the Illini.

Thanks for spurning the cheese heads and coming our way. You made a lot of us happy and confident in our program by doing so.

He was behind DMW when many including the Gazette were saying he should be playing. He was behind DMW that's what everyone clearly saw. Just like RJ. It's clear who has more talent in both cases. How is that weak? It took far to long for him to finally get more tick that DMW and he is clearly better and so is RJ. He sat a better player regardless of class. If you don't think Griffin and RJs are not better then whatever. You have a bromance too.
Ah..I see the pattern. This isn't about Underwood, it's about DMW. That's fine, but just say so.

All I'm saying is BU does not have a track record of not playing freshman. It's quite the opposite really.

If this is "big boy recruiting" the staff obviously isn't ready for it. And to let TSJ go to a conference rival? yikes. Yes, the Skyy addition was great but when you lose a top 100 freshman and your starting PG without replacing it that offsets any victory we have had so far. Seems as though we will be heading to another first weekend exit as there aren't too many other difference makers like TSJ left out there. Sad to see the staff/insiders so calm on letting a talent like him slip away so easily, especially after missing out on Brandon Murray

@illini0440 @LvilleILL @Indy Illini Fan

So,,,, lot of smoke tonight about TSJ on here. Anything concrete you guys can share? Are we out of it for sure? Just down to a 50/50? Losing our heads over some misread tealeaves?

Also, is it Michigan? Goddamnit I hope it's not Michigan.

EDIT: By "concrete" I don't mean something that's certain/guaranteed. Just mean something beyond a liked comment or reactionary gif.
