What was JCL's ATR?
Nevermind, I looked it up, 34 assists to 35 turnovers for .97 ATR. Not enough of a difference for that to be something used to argue your case. Add in the fact that Alstork ppg was 10+ higher then JCL and it's really a no-brainer. What you'd 'rather see' doesn't guarantee it would happen. I think the likelyhood of Alstork having a great season next year are much higher then JCL's. Anyways, I don't think this was forced on JCL. I think he just decided he'd be happier somewhere else. Too many posters are acting like JCL was creaned. There's no evidence to support that yet.
Alstork is not our savior and JCL wasnt creaned. I would have loved to see JCL finish as an Illini. Strongly disagree with the narrative ...'no biggie, he wasnt that important to us'. Losing JCL is a big loss. He was an excellent student athlete and the Illini staff failed to develop him as an athlete to his fullest potential. Just an exclamation point on the programs failings over the last few years in developing players and succeeding as a program.
Finally, I like Alstork, and I overplayed the ATR, but I think he may be a little overhyped on this board and he does come with flaws that our staff should be resposible to work out, like 4+ turnovers a game.
